Ed Francis is inspired by his own Mom and Dad, and how tough it was to raise a family of 5 children after World War II in the 1940s and 1950s. They bought an empty lot next door to grow their own food. Mom had a sweet tooth and nearly everything they ate was made at home. Home made treats was a way she brought her kids an extra bit of happiness. Growing up with fresh picked and home canned vegetables, along with home made pies - rhubarb, apple, and berry pies, toffee, caramel, fudge, and yes - ice cream, inspires Ed to bring this same love of food to the neighbourhood.
Ed's Real Scoop is devoted to the satisfying the sweet tooth in all of us by making the highest quality home made ice cream, gelato, chocolates, and treats right in the stores.
We are excited to now have 2 stores to serve you better, the Beaches location now joined with a new store in Leslieville, preparing the same great products from scratch!
In winter, after a nice walk in the Beaches or Leslieville, come in for a steamy cup of hot chocolate, made from Belgian Callebaut chocolate, or buy a cup with the mix to take home!
